UPDATE: Body of missing woman found in Iowa River

UPDATE April 17, 2017: News release from the City of Iowa City:

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office found the deceased body of a white, female in the Iowa River near Hills on Friday, April 14, 2017 while continuing to assist in the search for the missing woman Katherine J. Brooker.
The Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the body as Katherine J. Brooker. The investigation remains ongoing and the Iowa City Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Booker’s disappearance and subsequent death.
There are no further details to release at this time.


Iowa City Police are still looking for a woman that has been missing since March 10.

Katherine "Katie" JoAnne Brooker, 37 years old, has been reported to have health issues that could present further health or safety concerns if not located. Brooker is 5'9", 195 lbs, with light brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City on March 10.

Police say that the few leads on the potential location of Brooker have been unfounded.

On Friday, police, the fire department, and the Johnson County Sheriff's Office will search along the banks of the Iowa River after getting a tip that Brooker may have been seen along the river. The case is still being treated as a missing person with no foul play suspected.
