Marion man charged with murder, victim identified

A criminal complaint says Gregory Davis told police that he stabbed and killed Carrie Renee Davis about four to five days before her body was found.

A Marion man is now facing murder charges in a homicide investigation.

A criminal complaint says 27-year-old Gregory Davis told police that he stabbed and killed 29-year-old Carrie Davis of Columbus, Ohio about four to five days before her body was found. Carrie Davis was last seen on September 28 with the suspect.

Carrie Davis was found in a tow-behind trailer parked at a rental home wrapped in blankets and carpet with approximately eight stab wounds in her back. The rental home is owned by Gregory Davis' parents.

The complaint says Davis had been living with the victim at a difference residence in the 1200-block of 14th St. SW in Marion, but they were not married or related.

Police believe that Carrie Davis was killed at their shared residence on 14th St. SW, then transferred over to the rental property.

Gregory Davis is charged with first degree murder and is in Linn County Jail.
