Mayor Hayek Goes to Washington
IOWA CITY, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - Mayor Matt Hayek will travel to Washington D.C. to represent Iowa City at the 2015 White House Conference on Aging.
Hayek will join four other panelists to discuss topics related to healthy aging in America.
They'll include how to promote health and prevent disease and injury and maximizing independence.
He will sit alongside the Surgeon General, swimmer Diana Nyad, the president of the YMCA and the Director of the Center for Policy Research on Aging at UCLA.
Hayek was invited because Iowa City was ranked number one in the category of "Top 20 Small Metros" for successful aging.
Mayor Hayek will discuss the steps that Iowa City has taken to support healthy aging.
The conference will be held Monday, July 13th.
