UPDATE: Stolen pickup truck found in Marion, police looking for suspect

UPDATE: Police say they have found the pickup truck in the 900 block of S. 5th Street in Marion, but was unoccupied. Anyone with information is asked to call Marion Police at 319-200-7727.


Marion Police are looking for a suspect they say stole a pickup truck after attempting to steal from a business.

Police were called to Hames Mobile Homes at 640 Marion Blvd around 6:53 a.m. Thursday after it was reported people were fighting in the parking lot. Officers were told than a man tried to steal items from the business and was confronted by an employee. The suspect fled on foot after assaulting the employee.

Police were then told the suspect was near the intersection of Blairs Ferry Rd and Council St NE in Cedar Rapids. The suspect then took off running across St. Andrews Golf Course when police approached him.

Authorities later learned the suspect stole a red 2000 Ford Ranger with a personalized Iowa license plate that reads "TERTLE" from the area of Nixon Elementary in Hiawatha.
