Iowa man sentenced to life in prison for trafficking children in exchange for drugs
DES MOINES, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
An Urbandale man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the sex trafficking of two children.
41-year-old Clark Betts Jr. was sentenced to life imprisonment for two counts of sex trafficking of a child, as well as three concurrent 40 year prison terms for three counts of distribution of a controlled substance to a person under the age of 21. Betts was ordered to pay restitution in the amounts of $349,032 to the first minor victim and $374,400 to the second minor victim. He also must pay $500 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.
Prosecutors say he hooked girls aged 12 and 15 on crack cocaine, had sex with them and provided them to his drug dealer for sex acts in exchange for more drugs.
