Iowa City man charged with murder after killing his dad

An Iowa City man is now facing murder charges after he attacked his dad last month.

Iowa City Police say 30-year-old Flannery Huston Kennedy-Meier hit 63-year-old Mark Meier in the head with a weapon without provocation on November 13 at a residence in the 1100-block of Hotz Ave. The impact caused a skull fracture and a brain bleed.

Meier died of his injuries on Dec. 4.

An autopsy conducted by the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s office listed the cause of death as complications from blunt force injury, and the manner of death as a homicide.
