Former Linn-Mar nurse charged with sexual exploitation
A former nurse at Linn-Mar High School has been charged with sexually exploiting a 16-year-old.
Angela Beik was arrested by the Cedar Rapids Police Department and charged with sexual exploitation by a counselor, therapist, or school employee.
The Iowa Department of Human Services was made aware of the allegations on March 18.
Police say Beik was a nurse at the school at the time of the alleged incidents with a male student.
A search warrant affidavit says Beik told nurses on March 18 at St. Luke's Hospital that she had sex with a 16-year-old student. Those nurses then reported the incident to police, as they are mandatory reporters of abuse.
Beik has since been fired by the Linn-Mar Community School District and St. Luke's Hospital, where she worked part-time.
Beik is charged with a class D felony. She faces a maximum of up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $7,500 if convicted.
She has since posted bail.
