Deadly shooting at I-80 rest stop in Iowa County

Authorities say a woman is in custody after allegedly shooting and killing a male truck driver at a rest stop along Interstate 80 in Iowa.

The shooting happened early Wednesday at the rest stop in Iowa County, about 40 miles west of Iowa City.

The Iowa County Sheriff's Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating the shooting.

The identity of the suspect and the deceased driver weren't immediately available, and more information was expected to be released later Wednesday.

An official at the Iowa County jail in Marengo confirmed the suspect was being held there.

The rest stop is closed while authorities investigate.


(PREVIOUS STORY): A man has been shot dead at a a rest stop near Interstate 80 in Iowa County.

The Iowa Department of Transportation told CBS 2/ Fox 28 News that they received a call at 3:30 Wednesday morning about the incident.

The DOT told a reporter at the scene, but could not confirm, the homicide included one male and one female driver. The female driver was upset with the male driver and shot and killed him.

Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating the scene.
