CR Public Library hosts first Community Cultural Celebration and Expo

The Cedar Rapids Public Library was full of musical performances, special presentations, speakers and exhibits on Saturday. The library partnered with The Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission to highlight diversity in Eastern Iowa.

Nearly 30 organizations brought exhibits. Organizers say it's a way to showcase the diversity in the community. They also say it's even fun for the participants as a way to meet and talk with each other.

Also at the event, the Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission unveiled a cultural timeline. The display explains civil rights activity in Cedar Rapids dating back to the 1960s.

The exhibit is designed to be mobile so those who have an event at a public space can request the exhibit.
