UPDATE: Three Cedar Rapids shootings believed to be related

CRPD investigating shooting

UPDATE (9:40 AM) - - The three shootings that occurred in Cedar Rapids Sunday evening, July 16, are believed to be related.

Police responded to shots fired at 7:11 p.m. in the 400 block of 16th Street NE at a house. Several shell casings were found but no one was injured.

The second shooting occurred at a little before 9:00 p.m. next to Sam's Liquors at 15th Street and 1st Avenue East. Reports say several juveniles were involved. A 16-year-old male was shot and transported to a local hospital. His injuries were non-life threatening.

The third incident occurred on the 400 block of 16th Street NE at 10:17 p.m. where multiple shots were fired at the same residence earlier. There were no injuries.

Police believe the suspects range in age of just 12 years old, up to their mid 20's.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department confirmed to CBS2/FOX28 News that a 16-year-old male was shot around 9:00 Sunday evening. Authorities say the victim was treated and released from St. Luke's Hospital. The shooting happened along 15th Street Northeast near First Avenue in Cedar Rapids.

One person was shot during a very active night for the Cedar Rapids Police Department.

First, officers responded to the 400 block of 16th Street Northeast around 7:10 Sunday evening for a report of shots fired.

Authorities tell us no one was injured but at least one vehicle was hit by gunfire.

A few hours later at 9:00, officers were sent to 15th Street Northeast near 1st Avenue. Police tell CBS2/FOX28 that one person was shot and taken to St. Luke's Hospital.

Early Monday morning, police say the victim was treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries.

Then a little after 10, a number of squad cars left the second scene, and returned to the area near the first scene for another call of shots fired.

Witnesses told our crew, two guys came out of an alley firing weapons.

So far, there have been no reports of any injuries from the third incident and we don't know if these three shootings are connected.
