Chase ends before driver enters I-380 going wrong way
MARION, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
A late night chase sends one woman behind bars.
It started in Marion at 11:15 pm Wednesday night and ended on the Boyson Road exit of Interstate 380.
The Marion Police Department says they tried to pull over Christin Campbell-Martin, 37, because the car she was driving was listed as stolen.
She took off from police and drove through Cedar Rapids and Hiawatha, where officers finally laid down stop sticks.
Police say Campbell-Martin drove through the stop sticks and continued driving toward the exit heading into oncoming traffic.
Northbound traffic on the Interstate was shut down while police tried to resolve the situation.
The vehicle got stuck on the median, stopping the suspect from fully getting on the highway.
At first, she refused to get out of the vehicle, but eventually officers say they were able to talk her out of the car.
Campbell-Martin will likely face charges of theft, eluding, driving without a license and faces other outstanding arrest warrants.
