Cedar Valley Humane Society looking for volunteers after massive animal rescue
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
The Cedar Valley Humane Society will be closed to the public this weekend as they continue to care for hundreds of animals rescued for unlivable conditions.
CVHS said they are still in the process of evaluating about 900 animals rescued from a Vinton home on Tuesday. They hope to finish that process this weekend or early next week.
Some of the animals are giving birth or are close to doing so, while many others recover from dehydration and malnutrition.
CVHS said they have enough food bedding and cage donations, but is still accepting monetary donations from those would want to donate. The Linn County Farm Bureau donated $2,500 to help care for the animals.
CVHS is looking for volunteers at the shelter from 8:30 a.m. until at least 6 p.m. If you would like to help, to call the shelter at 319-362-6288 to confirm we need you when you’d like to come in.
