Cedar Rapids casino proposals to be presented to research firms Thursday
ALTOONA, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
Two firms conducting market studies for three different casino proposals in downtown Cedar Rapids will hear each developers' pitches on Thursday.
New Jersey-based White Sand Gaming and Minnesota based Marquette Advisors will hear proposals of the casinos at the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission and will tour the proposed sites on September 26.
The three proposals include Wild Rose Cedar Rapids, a $40 million "boutique" casino, a $165 million Cedar Cross on the River and a $105 million Cedar Crossing Central proposal.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission denied Cedar Rapids a gaming license in 2014 despite public support for a casino, saying it would cannibalize nearby casinos like the Riverside Casino.
The Racing and Gaming Commission will vote to accept or reject the casino license applications November 16.
