Benton County Deputy Sheriff shoots and kills dog that attacked him
BENTON COUNTY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
A Benton County Deputy Sheriff fatally shot a dog that attacked him.
The deputy was called to a residence in the 5900-block of 16th Ave in Garrison after it was reported that the owners were keeping dangerous animals at the home. It was reported that the pit bull in question had bitten someone previously, and it ran away.
Upon arrival, the deputy was invivted inside the home. The pit bull then attacked the deputy without provocation or verbal commands from Amber Valentine, who was in the room at the time. The deputy then used his side arm to shoot the pit bull, which died a short time later.
The owner of the dog, Amber Valentine was arrested and charged with assault with intent to cause serious injury. Investigators say additional charges are pending.
