Auction clears clutter at Ushers Ferry
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
Ushers Ferry Historic Village auctioned off some artifacts on Sunday afternoon to clear out some space.
Ushers Ferry lost 16 buildings as a result of the flood of 2008; Site Supervisor, Teresa White says that left them without room to display many of the items.
White says nothing that was important to the museums story was sold and special items are still being historically preserved.
“Other museums have taken things and so that feels really good to us because another museum got them and we really can’t keep them and show them to people,” says White.
Items on the auction block included farm items, furniture, housewares and railroad pieces from the 1880’s to the early 1900’s.
All the auction proceeds will be used to buy new items for museum exhibits.
