Vehicles Get Stuck In CR Flooding

Updated: Monday, June 30 2014, 05:39 AM CDT
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) – Heavy rains in Cedar Rapids also lead to flooding on the city’s southeast side.
Witnesses say many motorists had to floor their way through standing water while other drivers took to the water slowly.
The waters even cause a Cedar Rapids police officer to become stuck in an intersection near Bever Avenue.
Those at the scene say Sunday night and Monday morning’s flash flooding was some of the worse they’ve ever seen.
“This is crazy,” Andre Adams said. “I didn’t expect it to rain this hard.”
Meanwhile on Cedar Rapids’ southwest side, flooded streets also caused headaches for motorists there.
Standing waters forced law enforcement to shut down access to area roads, including Leroy and 1st Avenue SW as well as 15th Avenue SW.
