K9s Make Splash in CR

Updated: Monday, August 18 2014, 07:29 AM CDT
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Sunday was a day dedicated to the dogs in Cedar Rapids, or at least Bever Park Pool.

Citizens For Off-Leash Areas or K9-Cola hosted their annual K9 Splash.
The event allows for area dogs to go swimming in the pool which closed for the season last week.

It also raises money for Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation along with K9 Cola which will help pay for improvements to two of Cedar Rapids' off-leash dog parks.

"There's a lot of sporting breeds that really enjoy this," Marie Appel of K9 Cola said. "But even beyond them we have a lot of other dogs we've had Aussie's, some Dashed hounds, a bunch of Great Danes that have just been having a great time out here."

K9 Cola says it also hopes the event will attract much needed volunteers to their organization. If you're interested in helping, click here to visit the organization's website.K9s Make Splash in CR
