Slight Risk of Severe Weather Today

There is a slight risk of severe weather today across the southern half of Iowa during the late afternoon and evening. Biggest threat will be large hail and damaging winds. An isolated tornado and flash flooding cannot be ruled out.

June Fourth Wettest Month

DES MOINES, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) – The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says rainfall during June came close to breaking records.

The DNR says June’s statewide average rainfall was nearly ten inches, and rainfall over the past two weeks came in at 4.3 inches, nearly double the 2.2 inches which is considered normal.

These numbers put June as the fourth wettest month in Iowa over the past 141-years.
