CLEVELAND, OHIO (CBS2/FOX28) - the Iowa State University community is mourning a former Cyclone.
Former running back Hiawatha Rutland was found dead on Monday in Lake Erie.
Officials say he was boating with his girlfriend when he jumped in the water and never resurfaced.
Rutland was the team's leading rusher in 2002.
Rutland is the 6th former Cyclone to die in the last ten years.
The team’s coach says Rutland was a great person; the kind of guy that would do anything for his teammates.
Rutland was 33 years old.
