Despite Loss, USA Makes World Cup History

Updated: Tuesday, July 29 2014, 05:29 PM CDT
BRASILIA, BRAZIL (CBS2/FOX28) - The World Cup ends in heartbreak for the U.S. men.
Tuesday, they lost to Belgium which means they're packing their bags and headed stateside.
2002 was the last time the U.S. made it this far in the cup and on their way, they had beat Belgium.
This time, the red white and blue weren’t as lucky.
For most of the game the score was zero-zero until Belgium scored in extra time.
And then later, the U.S. and Belgium each knocked in a goal to close out the game two to one.
It wasn't all bad news though, team USA’s keeper played extremely well; 16 total saves in the game, which is the most saves in a world cup game in 50 years.
