CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Iowa's population is growing, but the Cedar Rapids - Iowa City Corridor is growing even faster.
New figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau estimate an increase of nearly 1.5% in Cedar Rapids' population from 2010-2012.  In Iowa City the growth is more than double that.  Figures there show a 3.35% increase, the 2nd highest rate in Iowa behind only West Des Moines.
The 2012 estimate tallies the population of Cedar Rapids at 128,119 and Iowa City at 70,133.  The rate of growth far exceeded both the average for Iowa and the rest of the Midwest.
Sioux City, Waterloo and Council Bluffs were among the bigger cities in Iowa that reported slight population declines.  Ames, Davenport and Dubuque reported gains ranging from just under 1% to just below 3%.Corridor Growth Outpaces Rest of State
