CBS 2 Heroes - Melvin Wauhob

Updated: Tuesday, February 11 2014, 09:56 PM CST
90-year old Melvin Wauhob says he needed a special waiver to enter the Navy at the young age of 17.  The Sioux City native would end up  on the USS Lexington at the Battle of the Coral Sea.
Diagnosed with colon cancer, Melvin is cherishing the accolades, though it seems he's happiest to tell the stories of the Lexington.  He shares a few of them with family and friends from the Hospice of Mercy as our CBS 2 Hero.
(Hospice of Mercy is looking for veterans to become Hospice of Mercy Volunteers.  If you are interested in learning more about it, call:  398-6628 and speak with a volunteer coordinator.)CBS 2 Heroes - Melvin Wauhob
