Powerball fever starts to mount
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBJ) —
Powerball fever is certainly heating up. The jackpot stands at $228 million for Saturday and has been growing since the April 1 drawing, reports the Quad City Times.
The winning numbers from the Wednesday drawing were 04-11-39-45-48 and the Powerball number was 09. The last jackpot, $435.3 million, was won Feb. 22 by a Purdue University graduate who asked to remain anonymous, reports the Lafayette Indiana Journal & Courier.
The current jackpot is a fraction of Powerball's record prize of $1.5 billion won in January 2016. If you took the cash payout, it would only amount to $139.6 million, but that's still not bad for a $2 ticket, even if your chances are only one in 292.2 million, reports NOLA.com.
