Cedar Rapids Police update Wednesday shootings
The Cedar Rapids Police Department have made two arrests while investigating two shootings in Cedar Rapids.
Police arrested two people on unrelated charges during the course of their investigation of a shooting in the 1300-block of L Avenue NE that left a woman with life-threatening injuries.
22-year-old Gage Rupp was arrested on warrants for criminal trespass and 3rd degree theft. 20-year-old Cedric Wright Jr. was arrested for providing false information and possession of a controlled substance.
The 26-year-old victim of the shooting remains hospitalized, but her specific condition is unknown. Police don't believe the shooting was random. Police have also found the red car they believe was involved in the shooting and have taken it has evidence.
Meanwhile, police do not believe the shots fired in the 300-block of 31st Street Drive SE are related to the L Avenue NE shooting.
There, police found damage to a home and several shell casings. Investigators are working on charges in that case.
So far, no arrests have been made in either shooting.
