Trump: Why 2016 is Different than Before

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) – Potential Presidential Candidate Donald Trump was in Cedar Rapids Wednesday, at a meet and greet at the Cedar Rapids Country Club.
He joins a group of potential candidates making basically unofficial campaign trips to get their name out there. The difference is that with Trump, there aren’t many people who don’t already know it.
Between years as a real estate developer, one of the richest men in the world and a reality TV show host, in or out of the race for the White House, Trump plays a role.
“He’ll be good for publicity, he’ll bring an audience, he delivers applause lines,” said University of Iowa Political Science Professor Cary Covington. “He makes news.”
"We have got to build a fence,” said Trump at Steve King’s Freedom Summit. “Who can build better than Trump? I build, it's what I do."
For now he’s talking everything from immigration to tweeting about leadership failures in Balitmore to issues with foreign trade.
He says if he wins, “we’ll end up having tremendous surpluses with China, with Japan, with Mexico,” said Trump. “They’re taking our jobs and they’re treating us like a bunch of babies because our leaders are incompetent.”
He says his message, like his background, is different from anyone else in the field.
“And remember this about a politician: they’re all talk and no action and they know how to keep their jobs and that’s it,” said Trump.
What’s different this time around is the campaign staff he’s putting together.
Like his buildings, it’s too big to miss. Unlike his buildings, it’s in Iowa and New Hampshire.
“Well it’s certainly a signal and in my own mind, I think my mind is made up,” said Trump.
He says he’ll announce for sure in June or July.
