High school student inspires support group
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
The Angel of Hope is a world wide symbol for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one taken too soon. The idea comes from a book called The Christmas Box. In 2012, Kylie Dewees raised money to erect an Angel of Hope at Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids. A child loss support group in Dubuque had been considering erecting one in their town. Hearing about the angel coming to Cedar Rapids inspired them to finally take the actions needed to erect the statue in Dubuque. There are only 124 Angel of Hope statues in the entire world.
