Gender reveal

Baby D

I’m halfway there: 20 weeks pregnant! I have an app that I enjoy reading each week that tells me how the baby is developing and what the baby's size is equivalent to. This week my baby is the size of a small banana! I can feel the baby practicing martial arts and dancing! I’m supposed to start gaining one pound a week, bring on the maternity clothes!

One of the questions people love to ask is if we are going to find out the baby’s gender. After a lot of back and forth, we decided to wait! I love surprises, so waiting to let the gender be a surprise is the ultimate! My husband and I are both really excited. It just adds even more anticipation for the birth! We just had our 20 week ultrasound where they could have told us the gender. It was hard not to "search" to see if I could spot any signs while they were moving around the view and taking measurements. I had to make myself stop thinking about it but I don't think I would have been able to tell anyway. The nurse asked if we wanted to know and since we didn't she made sure to avoid the "zone." In an effort to make sure our doctor didn't slip up and tell us, they kept that view away from the doctor too, so the doctor doesn't know the gender either! I feel good with our decision, but I have to admit it's tempting when I see bow ties and suspenders or tutu's and glitter. But I just remind myself the clothes will be there to buy...but I only get one chance to have my first baby and I want to enjoy every moment and not rush through.
